The Wright Brothers

Orville Wright and Wilbur Wright were two American aviation pioneers. They were credited as the ones who invented, built, and flew the first motor-operated airplane.
They successfully enabled full controlled and sustained flight in December 1903. The Wright Brothers did their first four 12-seconds flights over North Carolina. A handful of people witnessed them.
What made their airplane different from other inventors' was their airplane's ability to take off and land under its own power. However, they did not make their flight public until 1908, although they were known to successfully do a 40-minutes flight in 1905.
