Christmas is the biggest holiday which is celebrated by Christians all over the world. France, as the home of some of the most delicious dishes in the world, has their own unique Christmas foods.
From around a month before Christmas, cities hold Christmas markets. There, you can find local speciality dishes. In the market, you can also find French Christmas snacks, such as roasted chestnuts, raclette sandwich (sandwich with melted cheese), and mulled wine.
On Christmas Eve, French people eat a meal called réveillon. People serve luxurious dishes during this meal, such as roasted turkey, escargot (snail), or foie gras (goose liver). For dessert, they eat a chocolate sponge cake in the form of a wooden log, which is called bûche de Noël.
